Meet The Fremonsters
Wander through the Fremont District of Seattle and you’ll notice that many businesses have signs posted on their front window that say “Troll Money Accepted Here.” You’ll probably wonder, “What the heck is Troll Money?”
The Fremont Tour, A Street Theater offers a summer walking tour that promotes the quirky public art in Seattle’s Fremont District. Our presentation is quite interactive and involves using props. One of the props used is “Troll Money”. It is passed out to each tour participant at the beginning of the tour. Okay, where does The Fremont Tour get Troll Money?
Troll Money is minted at the Fremont branch of HomeStreet Bank which is one of the sponsors of The Fremont Tour. The bank manager, or head minter, is Paul Robinson who honors the spirit of Fremont’s motto, De Libertas Quirkas (the freedom to be peculiar) very seriously.
People in Fremont are called Fremonsters. Businesses run by Fremonsters are inviting tour participants into their establishments by offering discounts for Troll Money.
